Lesley Blair

Receptionist

I started dental nursing with Thom Rankin in 1987 and really just took the job because it was close to home!

I nursed for 7 years and then moved onto reception when our receptionist left. I spent many years in my wee cubby hole with my paper files and my big appointment diary, which I’m sure many of you will remember!

It’s great getting to meet all the patients in the practice, not just the ones that come into your surgery, and finding out what’s going on in their lives. I’ve seen many changes over the years such as computerisation, which I really dreaded but which I’m now a whizz at! And nowadays decontamination is so important, I remember the days when some dental practices didn’t even sterilise their instruments! It’s great to see so many new techniques coming in that make patients’ have a much nicer experience too, like the pain free injections and sedation. And I’ve even had some fun with the new wrinkle reducing treatments – ask me about those next time you’re in!

I love working at Coatbridge Family Dental Care – I like the atmosphere, the people I work with and the patients. I wouldn’t have been here so long otherwise!

In my spare time I like reading, walking, cycling and spending weekends in my caravan. I love to chat in reception so don’t be afraid to come and speak to me next time you’re in. If you have any worries about dental treatment I’ll help to put you at ease.”
